Microsoft has restructured the built-in Microsoft Store software store in Windows 11. In the future, the application store will not only include UWP applications already on Windows 10, but also support win32 applications and even Android applications. There are two points worth paying attention to:

The first is the app store policy. Microsoft said that the new version of the app store allows developers to choose their own settlement system. All the proceeds from the store in this way will be owned by the developer, and Microsoft will not make any commission; if the developer uses the settlement system provided by Microsoft, the income will be The percentages will be 15% (applications) and 12% (games), which is still “affordable” compared to App Store and Google Play.

On the other hand, Windows 11 will natively support running Android applications.

It is not realistic to completely reshape one’s own Android application store. Therefore, in the new version of the software store, the distribution of Android applications will rely on the Amazon application store, and the Microsoft software store will be responsible for content display; however, Android applications do not need an Android system environment to run. It can be perfectly adapted to the current Windows desktop environment, for example, applications can be pinned to the taskbar.

The only limitation is that Android applications in Windows 11 obviously do not have the Google Play framework to rely on. Google-based applications and some applications that require Google Play services may not work properly on Windows 11.

With the help of the open source Android ecosystem, Microsoft seems to want to “complement” an important part of its ecosystem that has been missing-that is, the mobile terminal. In fact, it is not difficult to see from Apple that macOS runs iPadOS applications. In the future, the difference between desktop systems and mobile systems will become smaller and smaller, and it is very likely that they will eventually converge and merge into the same operating system.
